Reading Den

Join us on August 26 at Fort Greene for the next installment of the Reading Den series.

The event is free and open to the public, and begins at 7pm. We are no longer requiring free registration for our events. Just show up and enjoy the readings and community.

Emeline Atwood graduated from the Michener Center for Writers in 2023. She writes fiction and poetry and is a recipient of the Thomas T. Hoopes Prize, the Begley Fiction Prize, the Hatch Poetry Prize, and the Le Baron Russell Briggs Fiction Prize. Her debut novel, A Real Animal, is longlisted for the Center For Fiction First Novel Prize and is a Debutiful Best Debut Book of 2026. She lives in Austin.

Chris Vanjonack is a writer and educator from Denver, Colorado. A recipient of an AWP Intro Journals Award, his fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in One Story, Volume 0, Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and he teaches creative writing at the Lighthouse Writers Workshop. His debut story collection, Out of Body, is forthcoming in September from William Morrow.

Dusty Brandt Howard is a Book Project Fellow at Lighthouse Writers Workshop where he is writing on his debut memoir, TRUST NO MAN, a meditation on lying, masculinity, and the darker sides of queer feminism. He has a master’s in Creative Writing from University of Westminster, London, and his work has been published in Cleaver, Foglifter, The Lifted Brow, and DECENT amongst others. He is currently seeking representation. 

Becca Hannigan is a Denver-based writer who earned an MFA from UNC Wilmington, where they served as fiction editor for Ecotone and taught creative writing. They have also taught fiction at the Sewanee Young Writers’ Conference, and their work has been featured in the Rumpus, Story Quarterly, 303 Magazine, and elsewhere.
